Traditional Reserves
Galvin Library Course Reserves allows students to use materials set aside by
faculty to assist in coursework. This includes reading material, practice exams,
problem sets, etc.
Most Reserve materials are available only at the Galvin Library
Circulation Desk. This includes books, articles, and all copyrighted
material. Some materials may be available through the Galvin Electronic Reserves.
Materials available only from the Galvin Circulation Desk will fall under one
of the following categories:
Reserve loan periods are determined by course professors/instructors
not library staff.
- Library Use Only

This means that the material may be used for any length of time while the
library is open. Material may not leave the building.
- 2-Hour Use

This means that the material may be used in the library for a two-hour
time period. Items will be due two hours from the time they were checked
out.
- 24-Hour Use

This means that the material may be taken out of the library for a
24-hour time period. Items will be due 24 hours from the time they were
checked out.
- 3-Day Use

This means that the material may be taken out of the library for a
3-day time period. Items will be due 3 days from the time they were
checked out.
There are fines for returning Reserve materials late!
Because materials are placed on
Reserve for the sole purpose of providing
access to many students over short periods of time, fines are charged to
facilitate that goal. They are:
Reserve materials cannot be renewed and must be returned
directly to the Access Services Desk.
